Professor Li-Rong Yang Visited the School
 

    Professor Lirong Yang visited Tianjin University and LIMB on November 19th, 2018 and gave a lecture on "Chemical-enzyme cascade method for nicotinamide production and its industrialization". Nicotinamide is a major vitamin variety that has been developed in China's "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" and "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" and also an indispensable vitamin additive. China is a big consumer of nicotinamide, but at present the production capacity is less than 1,000 tons, which is heavily dependent on imports. Nicotinamide is mainly synthesized from a by-product (3-methylpyridine) in the production of pyridine. China is both a major producer of pyridine and a major supplier of 3-methylpyridine.

    Professor Yang introduced the work progress made by the idea of "chemical-enzyme cascade method for nicotinamide production and its industrialization", using 3-methylpyridine as a starting material. The academic communication would be beneficial to the scientific research in LIMB.
